My Beaker Pen Cup

Image
by Tony Thomas I decided that I wanted to put some of my frequently used fountain pens in a cup on my desk for quick access.  But what kind of cup did I want to use?  A coffee cup?  A Ball jar?  Something else? After thinking about it a bit, I decided it would be cool to put them in a lab beaker made of borosilicate (thermal shock resistant) glass.  After checking the measurements, I settled on a 250 ml beaker and placed an order on eBay.  The price was a bit more than $7 with shipping. I think it has a high-tech look and the beaker is perfect for that purpose.  Where do you keep your frequently used pens?

Cigar Boxes - Cheap Pen Storage

Image
by Tony Thomas I have recently developed a love of wooden cigar boxes. Not only are they cheap and good looking, they smell great and are perfect for fountain pen storage. On the bottom of each box, I just use inexpensive vinyl shelf liner. If you are more crafty, you can also use slotted display trays from a company called GoPens . Need some cigar boxes? Visit your local tobacco shop and they will probably sell them to you for somewhere around $2-5 each.  Some shops will even give you a few for free.  You can also find nicer ones on eBay  or order ten of them for around $25 + S/H from a company called Thompson Cigars .  Give them a try!
